Road/ Cycle path
This 16 mile ride takes you from Newton Stewart to Wigtown and back along the Moss of Cree road. It's a mixture of cycle path and quiet lanes, mainly pan flat with two short steep rises.
This 21 mile ride circular route is one of the most stunning local routes. Although there is a fair amount of climbing the reward of the view of the Galloway hills is more than worth it. The return leg takes in the Wood of Cree.

This 8 mile easy ride follows national cycle route 7 along the Wood of Cree road to the RSPB nature reserve. The Wood of Cree is the largest ancient wood land in Southern Scotland. Why not take a long a bike lock so you can go for a walk too, and it's the perfect place for a picnic.
This 7 mile ride circular route is a mix of cycle path, quiet single track and a couple of miles along the Queensway. We can't guarantee you'll spot red squirrels, your best chance of seeing them is at sun rise so it's a great pre breakfast ride.
Mountain biking/ off road
With a bit of tar, a bit of off roading, on big hill and amazing views, this 14.5 mile circular route is an absolute gem.
Starting with a gentle climb through hardwood woodlands on tar this route takes you into the hills and the old Cumlodan Deer Park. This is the big climb but once at the top, the views of the whole of Wigtownshire are absolutely stunning.
Plunge down into the Cree valley past Drunnandow Farm(please leave all gates as you find them) then join the gentle rolling tar road back into town. One of the BEST!
Whilst Glentrool isn't as technical as Kirroughtree there's still loads of fun to be had for the less experienced rider. The cross country 'Big country' route is a 36 mile epic adventure with stunning scenery. You can pick up the big country route from Newton Stewart, the rest of the trails start from Glentrool 10 miles from the shop.
Kirroughtree is home to some of the best single track the UK has to offer. Whether you fancy a fast flowing blue route, a technical red or a more epic black there's some to please all mountain bikers. We're just 3 miles away from the trail head along cycle route 7.
